a maze'n good times

william and i returned home yesterday from spending five days visiting my family.  we spent two nights with my parents on the farm and two nights with my sister rhonda.  it was nice for william to spend some quality, low-key time with my family -- when everybody in my family gets together (which includes his seven cousins and six aunts/uncles) he gets very overwhelmed by all of the commotion.

william went on his first wagon ride (pulled by emma on her bike), four-wheeler ride (going turtle speed), and made his first visit to the a maze'n farmyard petting zoo.  what a weekend!

william really only wanted to do three things at the petting zoo:

1. walk up and down (and up and down and up and down) the ramp that went in and out of the barn:

2. visit the pigs:

3. eat the animal feed (corn) off the ground.  i kept taking kernels out of his hands and mouth and saying "ick! no!".  but his diaper that i changed the next day showed that he managed to sneak a few in when i wasn't looking.  tmi?  sorry...  :)

(aren't you glad i didn't show you a picture of #3?)

it was especially funny that he was so interested in the pigs because about a week ago he started laughing like this:

when we got home yesterday william was thrilled to see brinkley.  he kept walking between brinkley and his favorite toys while laughing and smiling.  home sweet home!

and when aaron arrived home from work he brought me these beautiful flowers.  they smell wonderful!

it was a great weekend, but it is also nice to be home.  thank you to my family for being wonderful hosts!

I just read the comments that you left on my blog. I totally didn't think it was insensitive at all! While it's true that my husband isn't currently home to deal with this, I certainly didn't take offense to what you said. If he were home, I definitely would have made him clean it up. Honestly, what I'm really dreading is dealing with any mice that I catch! Yikes! Thankfully, my oldest is nearly 18 and he can do the dirty work!

Anyhow... don't feel bad, you didn't say anything insensitive or offensive in any way! :)
