the night shift

i'm currently pulling an overnight shift, and we haven't taken any calls in the last few hours so i thought i would take the opportunity to post something new to the blog. the interview in madison went very well, and i have been extended an offer to attend the pa program in madison for the class of 2008. considering everything that is going on this year, and some plans already in motion, terri and i have decided to postpone my attending the pa program for a year. while the program in madison was unable to defer my admission, i was informed by the director that based on my performance in the admissions process this year i would likely be reaccepted next year should i reapply. i am very excited about this, and i will keep you all informed as this new adventure unfolds.

at this juncture, for those of you who may not be aware, i have decided to suspend my job search and take a full-time position back at life link iii. this is the ambulance service i have worked with both during college and since i returned to minnesota from my time with epic. i really enjoy working in a clinical capacity again, and this will afford me the necessary flexibility to complete my prerequisite classes for the physician assistant program. additionally, i picked up a casual position working in the er at hcmc in downtown minneapolis. my goal for this job is to network heavily and make the right connections to assist me when i'm looking for clinical rotations in pa school as well as the subsequent job search.

wedding plans are coming along nicely. terri and i made a trip to brandon, mn the last sunday in january to check out the new site for our wedding and met with the events coordinator there. terri and i were both very pleased with the venue and we decided to have both the wedding and reception at the long lake lodge. this place should work out very well for what we want from our wedding and reception. there have been a few other changes to the plans, so i would direct you to keep checking out the wedding website for updates.

terri has been very busy with work in the last couple weeks. auditors apparently have a busy season, which has absolutely no correlation with tax accountants' busy season, even though they occur at the same time of the year. she has been routinely working until the late hours of the evening, sometimes not getting home until after 2200. reminds me of my go-live hours at epic. :) mostly this means we don't get to see as much of each other as we would like, especially when i work the night shifts. however, it will all work out for the best in the long run.

okay, enough generic rambling for now. i trust that you are doing well, and i look forward to hearing from you again soon. please feel free to add a comment here, or send me an email.

okay, i have learned a valuable lesson. don't save a draft for a blog posting and then publish it weeks later; otherwise, everyone will know by looking at the date of the blog. sheesh!!! what an idiot! :)

It’s nice to see you keeping up with the blog Aaron. Congrats once again on your acceptance into PA school, even though your postponing it.

The trick there is to save it, then copy/paste it into a new post and delete the draft.

I've taken to only checking this once a month, but I'll start checking back more frequently.
