a musical interlude

terri and i spent this past weekend doing something that we haven't had the opportunity to do in quite a while - hang out together. it was really quite enjoyable, to say the least- one might argue that it better be since we're getting married... :)

we spent friday evening as our date night and a make up night to celebrate valentine's day. we had dinner at Wildfire in eden prarie which was delicious. the atmosphere is designed to be reminiscent of the classic 1940s-50s supper clubs; their specialty is chophouse meats. both terri and i dined on steak - the other white meat... wait, that's not right... while i wouldn't necessarily rave that it was the best cut of meat i've ever tasted, the dinner was very good and would merit a visit if you have never been.

later that evening, terri and i met up with a few of her college friends for drinks and entertainment at Axel's Bonfire in st. paul. for those of you not necessarily in the know, my twin brother, adam, is a professional musician. he recently transitioned from the traditional world of work to pursue his artistic endeavors full-time. one such activity is as an Axel's Bonfire Dueling Piano player on weekends throughout the twin cities. when terri and i have a little free time on the weekend we like to go and watch adam play - as you know, or can imagine, he's quite talented. if you're in the cities and looking for weekend entertainment, you can locate his playing schedule on the company website at http://www.bonfireplayers.com/ and look for adam on the calendar.

not much else new to report here. i'll post a couple pics from our night out, as well as a poignant little commentary a friend sent me the other week regarding groundhog's day. i hope you are well, and i look forward to hearing from you in comment or email format. until next time...

State of the Groundhog

"This year, both Groundhog Day and the State of the Union Address fall on the same day. It is an ironic juxtaposition: one involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to a creature of little intelligence for prognostication, and the other involves a groundhog."

This is my first ever blog experience. Thanks for transcending me from the age of mass e-mails to the age of the blog. I would like to see Adam play again, so give me a call next time!

That quote from Air America was a nice touch.

Yeah, I thought so too. Nothing like a little democratic humor... Meaning free, not partisan... Never mind...

Hey, Aaron:)
Many apologies for not visiting or commenting on your engagement and blogness -- CONGRATULATIONS! You are an amazing person (you and Terri already know that, I'm sure) and I'm thrilled that you've found your life's partner.

This past year has been full of changes for you, as usual! You're hard to keep track of -- but I'm so fortunate that you are a great e-communicator. The PA decision probably wasn't easy, but the re-admission potential sounds promising. I hope that everything works out better than you could've ever hoped:)

As for me, I've been fighting to keep my job at Concordia here in Montreal for the last 3 months. I won't bore you with the details, but it's getting messy as the department is behind keeping me and HR is leaning towards the woman who had the contract before me. It's messy because we're in Quebec, where the law is very family-protective and labour law is kookie to say the least. I'll keep you posted.

In the meantime, Matthew and I bought a couch and a 42" plasma. spend the money while we have it is my motto! He's still teaching English @ Ecole Pasteur in Cartierville on the island (his 2nd year) and playing lots of poker on Ultimate bet -- sign on and play him to support our get-out-of-leasing-land-fund:) ha ha

Other than my internship coordinator job @ Concordia, I'm still teaching aero-kickbox @ the downtown YMCA and will start working with Scott Livingston (Jen Hail's and the Montreal Canadiens' strength and conditioning coach) at his business, High Performance. I'm excited as it's what I changed my life to do. I'll be one of 3 Certified Athletic Therapists, focusing on reconditioning athletes of all levels and abilities. Yeah:)

Matthew and I are better than ever -- since we've been working, we've really come to understand how to support and encourage one another. It's great to have such an awesome life partner.

We spent the Holidays in Beaumont, California with Andrew and Nicole (little bro got married on the beach Nov '04) in their home. It was so lovely to spend 2 weeks hanging out with them and their Golden, Hazel:)

Julie and Joe have 2 daughters now -- Emma will be 4 in June and Elisabeth will be 1 March 22. They're growing up so fast and I miss them terribly. The family is doing great and they still live next door to Mom and Dad. Everybody loves Joe:):) ha ha

I'll be back in MN in August for a family reunion, I'll give you a buzz :) I am sooooo glad to hear about Adam. Good for him. I bet he's loving it -- I'll have to check out his coordinates when I'm in town. Please send him my best when you get the chance.

And Amanda's little one must be hitting a birthday sometime soon! How are they doing?

And, last but not least -- I've still got to meet this love of yours! Here's to hoping it will happen this year.

Take good care, Aaron -- thanks for keeping me updated:)

much love,
Beth
