state fair trilogy and wedded bliss

we hope you haven't all forgotten about us!  now that summer is winding down and we have a new camera, i thought it was time to get back into the blogging routine.  and, to kick off my return to the blogosphere, i will tell of the great state fair trilogy of 2010.

for our first visit to the great minnesota get together, we made an impromptu visit on the first saturday of the fair.  william loved the animals (as did we!) and tried his first pronto pup.  we paced ourselves on food intake because we knew we'd be back!

the following tuesday william and i went back to the fair with my parents and my sister's family.  this visit was also a success, especially considering that we had three small children along.  i think the kids' favorite part was the dog agility demonstration at the pet center.

and, finally, labor day weekend arrived and the three of us went back with our good friends christina and jared oasheim.  we checked out the animals again and rounded out our fair food experience (we saved a few of our favorite foods for this final trip).

william did great on all three trips, which is saying a lot for a toddler.  we have a little state fair trooper on our hands!  his mommy and daddy are so proud.

in summary, we consumed the following fair foods (all of which were shared with our friends/family...we would've had to be rolled home had we eaten all of these foods ourselves!):
-pronto pups
-cheese curds
-mini donuts
-deep fried snickers
-deep fried reese's peanut butter cup
-deep fried cheeseburger
-french fries
-root beer
-lemonade
-fudge puppy
-sweet martha's cookies
-bottomless milk

and...(drumroll please)...my new favorite fair food:  deep fried mashed potatoes on a stick!  four deliciously heart-clogging balls of mashed potatoes that are breaded, deep fried, and put on a stick.  thankfully we only eat these foods once a year!

and now, for photos:

we love mpr!

(the guy in the background on the right wouldn't let us past the gate to take a picture next to the cut-out.  grrrr...)

what kind of dairy princess would i be if we didn't get the all-you-can-drink milk?

cheese curds!

and on september 3rd aaron and i celebrated four years of wedded bliss with a date night.  i feel blessed to be married to a man that is truly my best friend!

I haven't forgotten about you. In fact I was just debating whether to stop by and say "hey, where are you." Now I know... you were off eating your way through the fair! We're heading to our state fair at the end of the month. I wonder if they'll have deep fried mashed potatoes... yum!
