now that we're only a week away from our return to the land of 10,000 lakes, it is appropriate to list some of the things we're most excited about regarding our move. we can tell you one thing for certain, it's not the move!!! packing this week has been painful - especially now that we have a third party that doesn't really seem to want to do any work! while we will definitely miss madison, there are many great aspects of minnesota that we're looking forward to upon our return.
10.) Freeways - while it may be hard to imagine actually missing this, when you live in madison for several years, it becomes obvious that owning a vehicle that exceeds 35 mph is somewhat pointless. although we don't miss the urban sprawl of the cities, it will be nice to more quickly get from point a to point b (except during rush hour...)
9.) The Minnesota State Fair - if you haven't been, you really need to go! best fair ever...
8.) The Lakes - we especially miss our strolls around lake calhoun. we're excited to be able to walk brinkley and william around the lakes over the next couple months.
7.) Mall of America - there is a place for fun in your life... terri is most excited for the uber DSW store and Aaron is ready to be near a Nordstrom's again. we also will not miss the clothing sales tax our friends back in madison still pay!
6.) Uptown - if you've never been, this is very similar to the east side of madison, especialy parts of willy street but possibly more trendy. it's great for a good cup of chai, beer, glass of wine, a fine shot of tequila, great food, arts, antiques, and so much more... not to mention that it happens to be a stone's throw from downtown minneapolis!
5.) Byerly's - so it's only fitting that when we leave a favorite grocery store, that we should have one waiting for us on the other end. we are mostly excited about all the cheese samples!!!
4.) Dining Out - again, this could have its own top 10 list. heading up our favorites in the cities: Annie's Parlour (Dinkytown), Davanni's, Donatelli's, Breadsmith, Redstone, Wasabi, and The Good Earth.
3.) Stillwater - while we are very excited to be back in the cities, this little gem holds a very dear place in our hearts as the city where our relationship began. it will be nice to get back there a little more often and have anniversary picnics!
2.) Grace University Lutheran Church - we are both amazed at how unique and wonderful a congregation can be, and how difficult it can be to replace that when it's gone.
1.) Our Family & Friends - while we are leaving some wonderful friends behind, we are very much looking forward to being closer to our friends in the cities again. it will also be nice for william to be much closer to his grandparents, auties, uncles, and cousins! even better, a two hour ride to the farm doesn't seem so long after living in madison!
so, with only a few days remaining before we trek back north, and what seems like endless hours of packing (one-handed while holding a baby), we are very much anticipating our upcoming move! see you all soon!!!
