we bought ourselves a house for christmas!

we spent 10 days in minnesota over the holidays to spend time with friends and family. we left madison on the 18th, which was a day earlier than planned to avoid an oncoming snowstorm. it sounds like that was a smart decision since madison got a foot of snow that night! we spent the weekend visiting with friends and family, and it was great to catch up with everyone. we are looking forward to being back in the area so we can see everyone on a more regular basis. kim and jamie were wonderful hosts, and it was great to have a chance to spend some time with the twins!

on the 22nd we decided to look at a home that we had found online that is located in crystal. we were looking “for fun” at this point since we didn't plan to begin seriously looking for a home until march. well, we fell in love with the house, which started the process of getting pre-approved, looking at other homes for comparison purposes, and eventually led to us making an offer on the 31st. it was a whirlwind, but we are happy to report that by the evening of the 31st we reached an agreement with the sellers! an inspection is still pending, but if all goes as planned, we will be homeowners as of 3/31/09! if you are interested in looking at the house online, the mls number is 3619530.

on the 24th we headed up to the thronson farm (one day later than planned because terri came down with the stomach flu on the 22nd). we enjoyed lots of great company and delicious food as all 16 family members packed into the house for a couple of days. the kids all had a great time opening their gifts, and they were very excited when they woke up on christmas morning to discover that santa had come!

the day after christmas we traveled back to the twin cities to spend the weekend with aaron's parents. we visited with friends friday night, and we had fun at the hanukkah party at aaron's parents house on saturday night. we enjoyed more delicious food (terri learned how to make potato latke!) and a rousing game of dreidel.

on the 28th aaron's parents made a delicious breakfast for terri's birthday, then terri headed back to madison with our friends alex and tony. aaron will be staying in the cities for two weeks while doing a rotation in the cardiology department at regions hospital. after that his out-of-town rotations will finally be over! terri is very happy about that!

brinkley was very happy to get home...he slept almost non-stop for a couple of days! being around all of the kids was a lot more stimulation than he is used to, but he was great with them and he certainly had a lot of fun playing outside and barking at the cows at the farm! but after resting up for a couple of days he was back to normal. i think that now he thinks our house is pretty boring!!

well, that sums up our holiday 2008 extravaganza. we wish you all a very happy new year!
